Renowned Lincoln tattoo artist, Zoe Fraser (Good Tiger Tattoo), has been cooking up a passion project for several months to celebrate the art and skateboarding community and raise funds for a local skate park. The event, titled Create & Destroy, is set to take place on Sunday 17th May at THE DRILL, Lincoln from 1pm-7pm. Here’s what you can expect.

“if the council won’t do it…we will have to try and do it ourselves.”
Everything is covered for all ages (with parental guidance) so the whole family can enjoy a day out. Entry is FREE, but as this is all for a charitable cause we suggest a £5 donation on the door. Along with an art auction from over 50 UK artists donating custom work, there will be raffles, prizes, and giveaways to help raise as much as possible for a new community skate park. Music, sport, photography, art, video games, and pizza are all on the menu as supported by local small businesses and bands.
I asked Zoe a few questions about why she chose to do this, to give up sleep and free time for 6 months, to not make a penny out of it for herself, whilst raising young kids, working full time self-employed, and moving house. Absolute madness.
“This project has been a blessing to have so many people involved who all support your ideas as much as you do!”
Unsurprisingly, projects like this have been requested of the City Council many times over the years, but it’s never gone anywhere. Now, there are zero facilities for skaters to practice their sport, and it’s lead to more negative stigma and dangerous skate culture. Zoe’s profession has exposed her to a lot of different artists, those relationships and shared enthusiasm for the cause have led to a spectrum of art donations to be auctioned off on the day. Most artists are designing and painting one-off skate decks as wall hangings, but there are other specialists in woodcutting, embroidery, crochet, and architecture that are donating special pieces.

“There are artists taking part from all over the UK, as far as London and Bristol, hull, Cheshire, Nottingham and many more, including lots of local artists.”
“We hope that the fundraiser will help towards getting not only some of the financial backing we will need for this project but also awareness and attention from bigger parties”
The goal of this fundraiser is to start the opening of a local skatepark and community space, with the hope of this event pulling the necessary attention for bigger financial backing and professional partnerships to help Zoe and the team make it happen. I believe this is 100% something Lincoln needs, especially after the announcement of North Hykeham skate park being demolished. I am personally donating a pair of custom embroidered Vans and will be there on the day to support and have a sick AF time.
Create & Destroy has it's own website where you can purchase merch, donate and get the latest on the project's development. Click the button below to check it out.

BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!
As we’re all about community, we can create a group to go together so no one has to miss out for the anxiety of going alone. You can get in touch to join us, but I’ll most likely create a free event listing for it.
K, Love You, Bye!
